OpalisRobot is IT process automation software for Windows, Linux
and Solaris environments. Its unique combination of scheduling,
event monitoring and automation provide IT professionals with the
tools to automate a broad range of IT operations. It automates
redundant administrative tasks, corrective actions and complex IT
processes.
Automate IT Processes with Flexible Scheduling Options
OpalisRobot provides advanced calendar and event-driven
scheduling capabilities to help automate IT business processes.
Combined with conditional logic for automated decision-making and
an awareness of dynamically changing data, it empowers business
systems with scheduling facilities beyond that of traditional
job-scheduling offerings.
Extending Scripts
OpalisRobot is a complimentary tool for traditional scripting
environments. It's graphical scripting engine enables operators
to extend functionality without programing. Add event-driven
schedules, notification, logging, reporting and dependencies. The
workflow environment offers a visual representation of the
automated procedure which makes it easier to manage, modify and
determine the nature of the job.
Event-driven Automation
OpalisRobot provides in-depth monitoring of event logs, text
logs, SNMP traps, performance, services and processes. It also
detects file modifications, availability of computer/IP
addresses, tests the health of Internet-based applications (HTTP,
DNS, FTP, SMTP, E-Mail) and runs database and WMI queries. When
an 'event' (monitored condition or threshold) is detected the
user-defined 'task' initiates.
Self-Healing and Automated Corrective Action
OpalisRobot saves time by taking care of tedious monitoring
chores and automatically putting out fires as they occur. These
self-healing features ensure processes run uninterrupted. When a
particular event occurs on a system (such as an application
failure or an extended incidence of high resource consumption), a
customized response is automated to try and correct it. Address
reoccurring problems by initiating a task or job-sequence. Tasks
offer the ability to automate a system reboot, terminate a
process, start or stop a service, launch programs, run batch
files or scripts and run a WMI query.
Automating Corrective Action from 3rd party Software
OpalisRobot targets the last step in the systems management
process of monitor, diagnose and correct. The administrative
workflow automates at a higher level, taking multi-step actions
based on system information or data. Opalis handles building,
deploying and managing automated procedures including corrective
actions, routine maintenance tasks and operational processes.
Management Products
OpalisRobot compliments 3rd party management tools and frameworks
(Tivoli, UniCenter, HP OpenView, BMC, MOM, NetIQ, Quest etc.) by
enabling them to trigger jobs in OpalisRobot. When an alert is
detected in the management software, it can trigger corrective
action or implement an automated procedure which is normally done
manually.
Business Tools
OpalisRobot can also be triggered by 3rd party business tools
such as CRM, ERP, Security, Storage, Change Management and
Development tools. This enables IT operators to automate
transactions between applications and initiate automated
procedures based on information contained in a database, log,
file, or email.
Notification & Reporting
OpalisRobot offers various options for real-time notification to
rapidly transfer information to users and to improve
administrative response times. Set up e-mail, pager, standard
popup-up message or an interactive popup message (waits for a
human response) for problems considered mission critical. Lower
priority errors, such as audited security reports and performance
data, can be logged to a central ODBC or SQL database. Other
notification options include sending an SNMP trap, message to the
event log or to the Opalis Alerts Window. Administrators can also
receive notification or trigger jobs via telephone by adding an
Intel telephony card.
OpalisRobot has automated reporting features to track system
activity in text file, HTML or CSV format for easy integration
with other corporate applications. Create your own customized
reports and schedule them to be published at a regular interval.
Reports can contain information about an entire job or about
specific job components as they are initiated. The client
interface offers central management and a consolidated view of
alerts for all Opalis servers. Configure monitoring jobs for
remote computers without installing software on the satellite
computer.
E-Mail Automation
The e-mail automation features offer the ability to read, filter
and process any POP3-compliant application (MS Exchange, MS Mail,
Lotus Notes etc.). Administrator-defined filters determine what
e-mail's are read and processed. When the rules contained in the
filter are met, an automated task is triggered.
The e-mail objects can also be used to trigger jobs from remote
locations. E-mail messages sent to the OpalisRobot server can
initiate predefined tasks to remedy system malfunctions. A single
e-mail has the power to restart services, launch executables,
reboot the server or initiate any other OpalisRobot task.
Central Management & Web Interface
OpalisRobot facilitates the management of your IT infrastructure
by centralizing operations and providing remote monitoring and
administration of multiple systems through its graphical client
interface. The graphical interface allows users to build
automated jobs without scripting or programing skills. Using the
OpalisRobot web client, users can view job status, objects,
reports, event logs, alerts and trigger jobs on OpalisRobot
servers.
